Packaging Artwork for Shipment

May. 28th, 2008 | 12:08 pm
mood: amused amused

I thought this youtube was so well put together. This is from one of my online artist friends. Any artist who has spent time packaging a painting for shipment can relate, for sure! LOL!
Personally, my preferred method is a sturdy box with plenty of cushion material.

Award Winning News!

Feb. 27th, 2008 | 07:30 pm

I belong to EBSQ art website, a place for artists to market and display their work. Each month there is a new show to enter. This month I had the perfect painting to add to the medicinal plants theme show so couldn't resist giving it a go. To my pleasant surprise I got the Member's Mention award! Click here  EBSQ Medicinal Plants Show  to see the whole show. Mine is the third one from the left. It's clickable so you can see a larger image and a description of it.

Observe my surroundings and try looking at what is going on around me as if I am seeing it all for the first time. For instance what would Abe Lincoln think if he was sitting beside me observing all that goes on in our world today?

What I did on my Summer Vacation

Aug. 29th, 2007 | 04:25 pm

The light is changing as the days grow shorter. Warm summer weather is still with us, but I feel the night air slipping into fall. Where did summer go? The same question I ask myself every year at this time. It makes my heartache that I didn't slow down, just a little bit more, to savor every moment of every day.

So much has happened in my small little art world, since my last posting in May, while it was still spring. Here are the highlights:

Spring Open Studios Tour took place on the first weekend in June. Met many new people and had a successful sale. First City Faire was on the second weekend of July and sold a painting to a local TV celebrity. Thank you Kathy for that. Ten paintings decorated the walls of Le Petit Bakery in Oregon City from June through September 1st. EOT Museum Shop in Oregon City displayed paintings and prints (sold very well, thank you all) from June through September. Currently 11 of my new works are on display at the Entry Gallery Red Soils Public Building in Oregon City, now through the middle of November. Check them out if you live in the area.

As you see, I spent my summer out in the world and away from Information Highwayland. Although its hard to beat the real world, have to admit I have missed all my friends on the net. It's good to be back.

Stay tuned, will start listing my latest works here soon. All My Best

Gerty No Longer Spring Chicken

May. 2nd, 2007 | 05:21 pm

Gerty is no longer a spring chicken. Lately she has been showing signs of old age. At times she is stiff and moves slower than usual. Gerty is our pet Rhode Island Red hen. She has been part of our family since she was a chick over 10 years ago. At one time she was part of a flock of 6 hens, but over the years, sadly, her sisters one by one ended up as night time snacks for cunning coyotes and racoons. Gerty has the run of our farm, but every night she heads for the protection of her roost inside her hen house. In the last couple of weeks though, she has been having trouble flying up onto her perch. Hunky Mr T would have to lift her up until he came up with a solution. He built a little wooden ramp. Now she can walk right up to her nesting area with no worries. Ok, so Gerty is just a little spoiled. We feel she deserves our loyalty. She has worked steady through the years providing us with fresh eggs for a decade now. Not to mention the countless plant damaging grubs and worms she has eaten, season after season, from our yard and garden.
